NewCaption Films was founded by cinematographer, producer and documentary filmmaker Johannes „Jo" Laidler.
Since entering the film industry in 2008, his work has taken him across Europe, Africa, South America and the Middle East, contributing to documentary, factual and scripted productions for broadcasters, production companies, streaming platforms and feature films.
What began behind the camera gradually expanded into research, development and production. Working across a wide range of formats, subjects and production environments fostered a growing interest not only in how stories are told, but also in how they are developed, financed and brought to the screen.
Today, NewCaption Films develops and produces documentary, factual and fictional projects, drawing on a foundation rooted in documentary observation, visual storytelling and international production experience.
Depending on the story and production requirements, NewCaption Films brings together writers, actors, artists, experienced heads of department, specialised crew members, colourists, rental houses, post-production facilities, fixers and local production partners from a trusted network built over many years.
While NewCaption Films is led by Jo Laidler, every project is shaped by the collective experience, creativity and commitment of the team assembled for it.
